Selma Auto Mall gets selected for reality TV show filming

Selma, CA (October 7, 2011) - Selma Auto Mall has been selected amongst all new car dealers across the US and Canada to be the first set location for a new reality TV show.  October 15th - 16th cameras will be on site at Selma Auto Mall, 2755 Auto Mall Drive, to shoot a pilot for a proposed TV series.  The series will focus on the trials and tribulations of what goes on behind the scenes in the dynamic environment of the car business.

What made Selma stand out amongst the thousands of other dealerships?  "We wanted to find a location that was unique to other dealerships and one that would be able to generate enough traffic for the event," said Ben Reneau, Managing Partner of Caliber Group.  "Selma has been a strong account for years and there is no doubt they will be able to deliver the results the show is looking for."

Production companies will search high and low to find the ideal location for their storyline.  Other than the Auto Mall's unique environment covering over 20 acres along HWY 99, this specific program needed a few things:  A dealer whose sales have surpassed the economic downturn, multiple lines in one location (bigger is always better), and experience with the massive sales events Selma has hosted regularly for years.   As Dealer Principal Dwight Nelson explained, "The Selma Auto Mall was envisioned to be a customer friendly atmosphere, with many choices, and many unique features that will have customers coming back for years and years."

DRIVE LIFE WITH SELMA AUTO

June 9, 2009 DRIVE LIFE WITH SELMA AUTO MALL

Supporting Our Local Heroes
SELMA, CALIFORNIA (June 9, 2009)-In today's slumping economy, every business, organization, and family are being affected by cuts in employment, budget, and all resources in general. Unfortunately, those organizations that every city needs to remain a united community are taking the largest hits (i.e. Police, Fire, Education, City, etc.). In an effort to give back to our local heroes who work to keep the community of Selma a safe home for thousands of residents, Selma Auto Mall will be donating $100 from every vehicle sold on Saturday, June 13th to Selma's Fire and Police Force.

Selma's Fire and Police Departments will be on site with official vehicles, equipment, volunteers, and give-aways. Proceeds raised on Saturday will go towards Selma Fire Department's Live Training fund and Selma Police Department's Radio Equipment fund.

In addition, Selma Auto Mall will also be hosting a Blood Drive for the Central California Blood Center from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, June 13th. June and July are always scarce months for blood supply due to the hot weather so every donor will have a significant impact. Donors are encouraged to come to the gift of life and receive a free t-shirt for their support.

In keeping with the Selma Auto Mall's typical summer weekend ritual, there will be hot dogs, drinks, train rides, a bounce house and characters for the kids.

May 6, 2009: 2010 Camaro Launch

You've waited for it, and you've been patient. The never before seen 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will be unveiled and auctioned May 6th at Liberty Chevrolet, Selma Auto Mall. SELMA, CALIFORNIA (April 28, 2009)- It has been almost a decade since the last release of the Chevrolet Camaro. Like the Corvette, Mustang, and Firebird, the Camaro is a one of a kind beauty that has enthusiasts of all ages anticipating the near approaching May 6th launch date.

Liberty Chevrolet, part of Selma Auto Mall, has anticipated this event since General Motors first announced production of the 2010 Camaro three years ago. To ensure it is the biggest launch event of all Central Valley dealers, Liberty Chevrolet is pulling out all the stops for the most elaborate reveal in the Camaro's 40-year history.

In accordance to factory standards, the Camaro is to remain unseen until May 6th. To ensure its secrecy, the vehicle will remain covered and suspended to a height out of any arms reach. Come launch day, May 6th, Liberty Chevrolet will host former Mayor Alan Autry in their showroom for a live radio remote on KYNO from 10 am to 12 noon. The evening launch party will begin at 5 pm as guests wait in suspense for the official unveiling of the 2010 Camaro and live auction in which one lucky devotee will have the chance to drive home the new Camaro that night.

Continuing to give back to their community, Liberty Chevrolet will give a portion of the proceeds to Selma High School's "Every 15 Minutes" program; a program in which the entire student body recognizes the dangers in drinking and driving and remembers those lost or injured in an alcohol related car accident. In addition, proceeds will benefit Selma High School's band who will be performing in the launch event. Also, Selma Fire Department will bring out their newest fire engine for display!

May 6th has been anticipated by many and it is finally here! Live on-site radio remote with a local celebrity, live on-site auction from an official auctioneer, live music from local talent, local heroes representation, AND community contributions, Liberty Chevrolet ensures you an extraordinary event to mark this momentous day. After all, it isn't every day the auto industry is able to celebrate the rebirth of such a classic design.

Cares Food Drive

November 28, 2008: Selma Auto Mall Cares Food Drive

SELMA AUTO MALL CARES
Selma Auto Mall hosts Selma Cares Annual Canned Food Drive and Santa Brings in Bicycles from the North Pole.

SELMA, CALIFORNIA (November 28, 2008)-For 30 years Selma Cares has provided thousands of needy families within the Selma community with food, toys, and clothing. This year the Selma Auto Mall has partnered with Selma Cares in collecting canned food for 550 families in need of a Christmas dinner. The names of these families are given to Selma Cares through Selma Unified School District, Head Start, and the Senior Center.

For fourteen years the Selma Auto Mall has found a home in the community of Selma. In an effort to give back to the roots of their success, Selma Auto Mall will be hosting a designated drop-off location for the Selma Cares canned food drive. "Without the support from our surrounding community, the success and longevity of this business would not be possible. This holiday season we hope our efforts will make a difference," said President, Dwight Nelson.

Running from November 28th to December 19th, Selma Auto Mall employees are coming together to collect canned food amongst their departments, as well as encouraging their customers to get involved. Selma Hyundai Suzuki Service is offering a complimentary oil change to any of their customers who make a contribution as well as Selma Nissan is doing something similar.

In an effort to make sure the holiday season will be enjoyed by everyone, Selma Auto Mall will be hosting Santa's Village through the month of December. Families are encouraged to come see Santa, take pictures, enjoy some hot chocolate and candy canes, and be entered into a drawing for one of the new bicycles, straight from the North Pole.

Selma Cares brings together volunteers from various businesses in the Selma community, Rotary, Selma High Interact and Leadership students to collect and distribute items that have been donated. This year Selma Cares is putting an emphasis on providing a Christmas to as many families as possible. "Many of these families would be without a Christmas if it weren't for Selma Cares. We are collecting everything from turkeys to baby formula," says Cindy Howell, volunteer of Selma Cares.

To make a drop-off, visit any one of the five buildings within the Selma Auto Mall. The meal boxes will be delivered to the 550 families on December 20th. The Selma Auto Mall is confident that by coming together, a difference will be made this holiday season.

The Fresno Bee - Valley a "Hot Spot" for Reality TV Contestants!

By Rick Bentley / The Fresno Bee | Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 | 02:00 PM

The Central San Joaquin Valley continues to be a hotbed for reality television.

Visalia real estate agent Robert Naugle was featured on an episode of HGTV's "House Hunters" that aired in late September.

On the cable series, agents show three different properties to prospective buyers. In this case, it was Wynter Benway and Will Binder, a couple that would marry as soon as they found a home.

"We started looking at houses back in early 2010 and that's when they decided to send in an application. They didn't hear anything so we started looking again in August. As soon as we started looking, they got a response," Naugle says.

The challenge Naugle faced was that Benway wanted a move-in-ready home while Binder wanted a well-priced fixer-upper. They finally picked a foreclosure that had been redone. And if you are wondering, the couple have married.

Also, a camera crew will be at the Selma Auto Mall on Saturday and Sunday to shoot what could become a new reality TV series. The program would offer a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in the car-selling business.

As for reality competition shows, the team of Fresno's Andy Finch and Tommy Czeschin of Crowley Lake, both professional snowboarders, have made it to the final eight on "The Amazing Race." On Sunday, the teams head to Thailand.

And, Visalia native Avi Kaplan and the four other members of the a cappella group Pentatonix -- Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado and Kevin Olusola -- have survived another week of competition on the NBC competition show "The Sing-Off."

Selma Enterprise - Chance to be a TV Star this Weekend at Selma Auto Mall

By Doug Hoagland | dhoagland@selmaenterprise.com | Tuesday, October 11, 2011 | 5:00 PM PDT

Selma should get ready for its close-up: Reality TV is coming to the Selma Auto Mall this weekend. A production company will be filming Saturday and Sunday at the mall to "capture the trials and tribulations" in "the dynamic environment of the car business," according to Amber Nelson, advertising executive for the Selma Auto Mall.

Film from the weekend will be used for a TV pilot that could lead to a national cable series, Nelson said. The cable network doesn't want to disclose its identity at this time, she added. The auto mall was selected from all dealers in the United States and Canada as the first place to film the show, according to Nelson.

Connections in the business world helped the auto mall land the reality show.

The Caliber Group, an event marketing company that works regularly with the auto mall, lined up the TV shoot.

"We wanted to find a location that was unique to other dealerships and one that would be able to generate enough traffic for the event," Ben Reneau, managing partner of the Caliber Group, said in a news release.
The mall's distinctiveness includes a 20-acre location along Highway 99, sales surpassing other dealerships during the economic downturn, multiple dealerships at one site and experience with big sales events, Nelson said.

Selma Auto Mall owner Dwight Nelson said in a news release: "The Selma Auto Mall was envisioned to be a customer friendly atmosphere, with many choices and many unique features that will have customers coming back for years and years."

This weekend, the production company will film salespeople, customers and others in the roles they occupy in the car-sales business.

There are no guarantees that someone buying a car this weekend will get their close-up -- or that they'll survive the editing process if they are filmed, Amber Nelson said. However, it might happen.

A new car and the chance for some face time on reality TV? Only this weekend in Selma, it would appear.

If the pilot leads to a reality series, the show would film at other car dealerships in the nation, but probably would return to the Selma Auto Mall, as well, Amber Nelson said.
